Hundreds of trees will be planted as a result of a $477,030.27 donation from Steuart and Kelly Walton.

Five hundred trees will be planted in various parks and public trail sites in Bentonville, with a focus on areas that sustained significant damage during the Memorial Day weekend storms of 2024, according to Parks and Recreation Director David Wright.

The donation will also fund the planting of about 60 trees through the city’s Great Neighborhoods Partnership.

In all, 59 varieties of trees will be purchased at costs ranging from $190 to $330 per tree. Along with formally accepting the grant, the Bentonville City Council approved a $396,080.27 contract with Fresh-N-Green, Inc. for tree purchase, planting, and 12 months of follow-up care at its October 14 meeting.
