Greg enjoys hiking, once fell asleep for seven hours in a tanning bed, and, thanks to his weightlifting prowess, is an “elite hip thruster.”
Samantha has been on 11 different trips this year, loves Taylor Swift and Twilight, and has absolutely no interest in dating someone with a fire zodiac sign.
Andrew has been playing the banjo for four years, had his last haircut in March, and has dated “at least one woman.”
That’s all according to their friends, who presented these eligible bachelors and bachelorettes to a packed audience at a “Singles Pitch Night” hosted by Queenie Connects at The Momentary on Wednesday, December 17.
In all, 22 singles were brought to the stage and presented by their friends, who made the case for why audience members should want to date them. The three to five minute presentations were boosted by humor and slide deck presentations.
Around 650 people, many of whom appeared to be in their 20s and 30s, attended the event. Audience members could scan a QR code and submit a short form to express interest in connecting with a single, and Queenie Connects founder Rebecca Luther said hundreds of forms were submitted over the course of the night.
Audience members could express interest in connecting either romantically or just as friends.
“Sometimes when we’re single, we just want to find our friend tribe,” Luther said.
Due to the success of the first event, another Singles Pitch Night is already scheduled for January 17 in partnership with The Momentary.
Queenie Connects is a social group for single people in Northwest Arkansas that Luther started in 2024 after feeling that dating apps often meant people were looking for love in the wrong places.
In addition to running a Facebook group where vetted singles in Northwest Arkansas can introduce themselves to each other, the group also hosts several happy hours and other meetup events each month.
Luther herself is now in a relationship with someone she met at one of the group’s meetup events. She admits (and says her partner knows) that she had previously skipped him on a dating app. He “didn’t take good selfies,” but when they met in person, things just clicked.
